Samantha has a lot to write about but I wanted to jump on to share the Stibbert Museum. Frederick Stibbert was a collector and ended up connecting his family home to adjacent villas and created his own museum. When he died, he passed his collection on to be used as a public museum and the city of Florence established the Stibbert Museum Foundation.

When he added on to his family villa, he attempted to create a vision from medieval times. Everything about this museum brings you back in time. And the park with the statues, th Egyptian Temple, many staircases and turtles, was a wonderfully serene afternoon walk.

So many swords! Samantha counted 69 in one room.

We spent the most time looking at all the horse’s armor detail and tack.

I can only imagine how beautiful the gardens were when they were in bloom and really taken care of. We decided we would have spent all of our time here. The Egyptian Temple, with a sleepy cat in the window.

The gardens and even a cave!

We never would have visited this museum if we had only been in Florence for a few days. And as we walked there this morning, deciding to be as leisurely as possible, we passed a botanical gardens and decided that was a must to explore as well.

I have really enjoyed our Sundays! Fiesole, Mometros so and now a great museum and gardens day. Off to try another trattoria around the corner from our apartment. Reviews claim they have the best tiramisu!
