A little commune in France

We have headed to a suburb of Paris, Sannois. We needed a little more space and Samantha wanted a yard for our 5 days of isolation following our positive COVID tests. While on my team call on Friday, I got a little help reading our test results and within minutes had our Saturday flight cancelled and rebooked for next week and a house rented. A little later the news was released that the negative test policy will no longer be in place (still too late for our flight home), but I could not imagine being on a plane right now! My luck we would have been sitting near a mother with her infant.
Fortunately both Samantha and I are feeling fine. When we arrived in Sannois we had hours before we could be in our house, so we left our luggage and went for a long walk. 5 hours later we got back to the house and settled in for our stay. We walked uphill to Butte des Chataigniers and did not pass a single person! We saw some people with their dogs playing in a field at one point. What a difference from being in the city!

Hopefully we will see a few things here before we head home on Saturday. Moulin De Sannois seems like a good outside venture and there are some squares I think we can check out. There might be a vineyard that could be quiet as well if it is anything like the streets we have walked on. We missed the catacombs too so we might take a train back into the city at the end of the week.
I am thankful for a lot of things right now. First is that neither Samantha or I are experiencing symptoms. I thought I was getting a sore throat but I fixed that with wine. Samantha had a headache yesterday but I think it was because she was tired and hadn’t had enough food or water. I did have a congested, but runny nose, if that makes any sense. But neither of us has anything going on today. Hoping that continues!
I was also able to take this news easily since I can just continue working as I have been for the past 6 weeks. Right after I changed my flight and booked the house, I got Carol going on figuring out how to be sure we could be on a flight next weekend. With the change in policy, at least I do not have to worry about that now. And although this is a big, unexpected, additional expense, once I can get on a call with American Express, I think I have some insurance coverage and maybe I will see a travel credit from United (no high hopes though).
So look forward to Samantha blogging for a few more days! She had a few good food posts that never uploaded and I am sure she will come up with some interesting tales to tell about our trip. I will leave you with the view of the owner’s house from our guest house window. I am wondering if they will let me in to check out that top floor room before we leave!

So very glad that you both are feeling well. Nice that you have a chance to see outside the city. That too floor looks very interesting 🤨
So glad you found a nice place to be while you isolate, yes it’s a bit freaky to think now anyone can travel regardless. 😬 Glad you r both feeling good!
