I tried to post many times but there was a website issue. We are now in Paris so there is lots to catch up on from our time in Rome.
The Coliseum is huge. I did not like that the animals were killed. We were the last group there. It was really cool. The Coliseum was built in 8 years because the slaves worked day and night. It fell apart after earthquakes because the metal supports were taken out and used for weapons. Some of the marble from the Coliseum was used at St. Peter’s Basilica.
We learned how to make fresh pasta and ate the fettuccine we made with three different sauces. I liked the bolognese sauce the best.
My mother really wanted to see Castel Sant’Angelo. It was close to our apartment so we saw it wherever we went. There is a wall where the pope used to walk to the castle if there was an enemy threat.
On our last day in Rome we went to the Vatican Museum to see the Sistine Chapel and then to St. Peter’s Basilica. You can’t take pictures in the Sistine Chapel but the first photo is of Mona Lisa’s son handing the crown. We also had a tip for good gelato so we found the shop and had super good pistachio and hazelnut scoops.
We are in Paris for just a few days. We went on a bike tour and to an illusions museum. We walked by the Eiffel Tower. I really wanted to see the Mona Lisa. It was raining and we stood in line forever and then waited in line again inside to see her.
Tomorrow we are going to Disneyland!
How amazing to see all of that! I learned about a lot of what you posted on college and loved it! I’m salivating looking at that fresh pasta! There is a Disney Land in Italy??
I’m tired just reading about your many adventures . 💕
