My turn!

Since Samantha said that today was whatever I want day, I am posting to the blog too. What a day we had! Considering I am desk bound usually, the fact that we had 22k steps today, and part of those were holding an umbrella so I think they are underestimated, we really packed it in today!

I decided I wanted to see the wisteria, hoping it was in bloom based on the mid-April to May descriptions. Well it was, but what a hike to get there. After crossing the Ponte Vecchio and going up a very long, steep hill, we changed course to find the entrance to the Bardini Gardens. Later we figured out we turned around 10 steps before another entrance. But the gardens were beautiful and led us on to the Pitti Palace.

We planned some time ago to go to an opera/aria performance at a church just past the Ponte Vecchio for my birthday. I wish I could have taken pictures or video during the performance. It was amazing, but I did convince Samantha to touch the piano before we left. I have to say, the entire time I was listening I was wondering how someone figures out they can sing like that….and hoping that Samantha did not test out any theories!
